We're looking for a new Chair to lead our Board

The recruitment process is now open for applications.

25th November 2020

We’re looking for a new Chair for our Board, with current Chair Nick Bitel’s term coming to a close in early 2021.

The appointment will be made by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, with the application process having opened this week.

As the government’s arms-length body responsible for supporting and promoting grassroots sport and physical activity in England, the new Chair will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of our new 10-year strategy that will be launched in early 2021.

Our role is to support, grow and advocate for grassroots sport and physical activity, taking our strategic lead from the government’s Sporting Future: A New Strategy for an Active Nation, strategy.

Nick leaves his role next year after eight important years as Chair, which followed three as a board member.

During his eight years, Nick has successfully overseen the development and implementation of our current strategy, Towards an Active Nation, as well as the appointment of our chief executive, Tim Hollingsworth.

The application window closes at noon on 21 December.
