Announced by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport on 17 November 2020, the Sport Survival Package (SSP) was the government’s response to support sports organisations materially impacted by the restrictions on spectator returns resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.
The package provided over £250 million of support to more than 1,500 individual sporting organisations to assist their survival.
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) appointed Sport England as Loan Agent to manage the day-to-day operational duties for the package, with DCMS retaining its decision-making responsibilities for all matters affecting the financial recovery of loans.
