Richmond Group of Charities

We've formed a unique collaboration with the Richmond Group of Charities to help people with long-term health conditions get active.

Our National Lottery funding is supporting research projects and pilot studies and is split between 10 of the country's leading health charities that deal with chronic conditions such as stroke, diabetes, cancer, mental health problems, asthma, arthritis and Alzheimer's.

With more than a third of the population living with one or more common long-term health condition, and these people being more likely to do little or no activity, this investment is aimed at helping them to find their way into physical activity or to do more.

About the Richmond Group of Charities

The Richmond Group of Charities is a partnership of 14 leading health and social care charities that represent more than 15 million people living with long-term conditions who could potentially benefit from sport and physical activity.

They have unique information about how people with a range of long-term conditions go about their lives and experience their care, and are dedicated to sharing that information to facilitate better use of health and care resources – with their respective charities already having examples of how being physically active can help manage long-term health conditions.

Movement for All

As well as investments with individual charities, there's a wider piece of work across all of the charities through the Movement for All programme.

The first three years of the programme have now been evaluated and the learnings and recommendations turned into a report that can be accessed via the link below.

We Are Undefeatable

One of the most prominent pieces of work that has come out of the partnership with the Richmond Group charities, as well as Mind and Parkinson’s UK, is the We Are Undefeatable campaign.

The national campaign was launched in August 2019 and aims to support and encourage those who live with one or more long-term health conditions to be physically active.
