The Movement Fund supports almost every type of physical activity, including:
- walking
- cycling
- fitness
- sporting activities
See the full list of recognised sports and activities.
If your project involves high-risk activities, then your organisation and/or coaches must be affiliated with the recognised governing body.
Please check the list of recognised sports and activities to see if your activity is high-risk. You will need to provide evidence of affiliation as part of your application.
Football activity
We work alongside government, The FA and the Premier League to fund football activity through the Football Foundation.
The Football Foundation have funding available to improve or create pitches and facilities, as well as funding things like goalposts, floodlights, pitch maintenance, machinery and more.
We will fund football projects directly, but this will be where the football activity is supporting wider social, community and health outcomes; for example, walking football and other recreational football activities.
We are supporting an initiative to activate Football Foundation-funded facilities using football within a multi-sport approach. Contact your Active Partnership to find out more.
What can’t we support?
We can’t fund some activities; for example:
- dance, where the focus is on artistic or performative dance
- children’s play, or activities focused on children under five
- gardening and manual tasks
- self-defence
- eSports and virtual reality games
- activities for people outside England.
