Two of our Board members have been reappointed for further three-year terms, which began on 1 January, by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
Jason Fergus and Michelle Cracknell initially joined the Board in 2023 and have now been confirmed for second terms.
Alongside the reappointments, both Mel Bound and Helene Raynsford ended their time on our Board on December 31, 2025.

“Their experience and insight will be invaluable as we enter the next major delivery phase of Uniting the Movement.
“I would also like to place on record my sincere thanks to Mel and Helene.
“Their contribution to Sport England has been outstanding, and they leave with my deepest gratitude and respect — sentiments I know are shared by colleagues across the Board.”
The remit of our Board includes:
- setting and agreeing strategy and policy
- overseeing the development and implementation of major projects
- approving all grant awards which exceed £2 million
- approving Sport England’s Annual Report and Financial Statements
- overseeing performance management.
