Our past programmes

Over the past few years, we’ve been part of some exciting programmes focused on helping organisations build confidence and capability in applying innovation and digital to address inequalities in sport and physical activity.

Innovation open call

As part of our response to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, in 2020 we launched our Innovation Open Call – a programme aimed at finding innovative solutions to reducing inequalities and to help those most affected by the impact of the pandemic to get active. We offered the selected organisations a wide range of financial and non-financial support to help their solutions thrive.

Ideas to action

Also launched within our pandemic-response package, in 2020 we partnered with Design Council to deliver our Ideas to Action programme to explore how innovation and design thinking could be used to find new ways to overcome inequalities in physical activity, particularly for groups for which these persisted or worsened during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Innovation and digital accelerator

In partnership with CAST (Centre for the Acceleration of Social Technology) we ran the Innovation and Digital Accelerator, as part of our Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games funding. The programme supported 22 National Governing Bodies (NGBs) involved in the Games to develop innovative solutions using digital, data and design. This contributed to creating the Commonwealth Games legacy.
