Place Change Makers podcast

We developed this series to share what we learned while testing our place-based approach in areas with some of the most disadvantaged and least active communities.

Place Change Makers podcast

Over the past six years, we’ve tested our place-based approach in places across the country with some of the most disadvantaged and least active communities.

We’ve been working with places and communities, connecting, collaborating, doing things differently… helping to make physical activity everyone’s business.

This has been a huge learning experience which has shown that although approaches and outcomes may differ from place to place, what is consistent is the importance and value of the people doing the work – this is where the real difference is being made.

We have invested time evaluating the approach and surfacing the learning to better understand the skills, mindsets, behaviours and capacity required to enable successful place-based, systemic working.

Testing our place-based approach

This learning is shared through our ‘Place Change Makers’ podcast series and associated resources. In this series, we explore personal journeys, practical examples and challenges faced by those at the heart of this work.

Each episode focuses on a key topic and deep dives into the associated skills, mindset and behaviours that are crucial for driving change across local systems.

You will find episodes on people, empowerment, leading change, collaboration, reflection and workforce. You can either watch or listen to them, and download the resources and transcripts below.

Accompanying episode 6 (Workforce Matters) is a resource titled 'Understanding capacity needs', which will help you think about how to provide the right capacity to enable successful place-based, whole-system change.

You can also join our community of learning where we'll keep you connected to the latest learning and thinking being shared by places.
