Community Infrastructure Levy and Planning Obligations Advice Note

About the Community Infrastructure Levy and Planning Obligations Advice Note

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and Planning Obligations Advice Note offers advice on meeting the need for sporting provision that may be generated from a new development.

It does this by presenting four questions that should be worked through by users and giving advice on how each question could be answered. These questions focus on how the needs from an individual development can be determined and met in line with the current CIL regulations, based on our current understanding.

Recommendations are then presented as to the overall course of action that a local authority could take.

We are currently drafting an updated advice note which will take into account the Government's 2019 changes to the CIL regulations.

Wider guidance on the use of CIL and Planning Obligations is available within the Government's Planning Practice Guidance.
