The volleyball talent pathway is still in its infancy but is growing in line with its rising popularity

Our volleyball pathway comprises 70 athletes below the age of 19 and almost 70 young seniors (19+) are currently supported on the volleyball talent pathway, which is aiming to roll out five more talent search events later this year in search of the next volleyball stars.

Monthly training and selection camps for those currently part of the pathway are supported by funding from SportsAid and the Talented Athlete Sponsorship Scheme (TASS). These programmes have provided expert financial, educational and practitioner support in developing elite athletes.

While the pathway doesn’t yet have a world class programme unlike other national governing bodies of sport, 10 athletes are currently on professional contracts in Europe and a further 10 have scholarships in the States.

Additional funding for a Junior Academy in Loughborough is set to help the development of the local pathway and support athletes at home.
