Over 100 regional colleagues joined the regional Sport England team at the National Motorcycle Museum on 18 November 2005 to review the regional plan for sport. They shared their achievements over the first twelve months of the plan, discussed priorities for the following year and looked at what might be a lasting legacy for the region from the 2012 Olympic games. Kombat Breakers, a youth dance group from Coventry, treated the audience to a performance of breakdancing. If this wasn’t energetic enough there was a judo demonstration from Craig Fallon, who is the current World Champion in the 60kg class, he trains at the National Judo Centre of Excellence at the University of Wolverhampton.
We would now like to share information from the morning with all regional colleagues, as well as giving you sight of the presentations that were given on the day.

Delegate tasks on the morning 1.To share achievements – delegates gave us information on what had been happening in their area of work and we collated this information under the 7 outcomes of the regional plan for sport. 2. Setting key regional priorities for 2006 – delegates were tasked with prioritising 5 action areas from a selection they were presented with, or they had the opportunity to state their own idea for a regional priority. Presenting the 5 priorities for 2006. pdf (15 KB)
3. A regional 2012 legacy – delegates set their ideas down and then there was a democratic voting system to decide on the one vision for the region to aim for from the London 2012 games. Please view the ideas. pdf (38 KB)

What next? We set the 23 December as the last date for receipt of information on the achievements in the region towards the targets set in the regional plan for completion by 2005. We have received a small number of responses, which taken together with the evidence we had presented in our report on the outcomes for 2004/05 and the feedback given at the conference, give us a good record of the progress over this period. It is intended to amalgamate the three areas of input to produce an overview of the progress. We are currently determining the best way to present this and we hope to produce this information in early spring.
