Club president David Linford and local MP Sir Patrick Cormack cut the ribbon to open the refurbished pitch spacer A pitch for all
Cannock Hockey Club officially opened a newly refurbished and resurfaced pitch on Saturday, 4 October, made possible through 2 awards of funding from Sport England. With £169,834 from the Community Club Development Programme and £62,500 from the National Sports Foundation the club has been able to provide the community with a pitch that will be at the forefront of hockey development - from grass roots up to elite performance levels.
The club can now proudly boasts that it has 2 international standard pitches!

Rugeley Pool had its official opening on Wednesday, 17 September - Olympic swimmer Nick Gillingham was on hand to show young swimmers his medal haul and to officially open the new new facility spacer Pool for the community
Cannock Chase District Council had a lot to celebrate on Wednesday, 17 September when they saw their new state-of-the-art swimming pool officially opened by Olympic swimmer Nick Gillingham MBE. The pool received an award of £500,000 from the National Lottery through Sport England's Community Investment Fund.
Sport England congratulates everyone involved in the project and knows that the pool will make a real difference to the local community.

What better way to celebrate the opening of your new all weather tennis court than having an award winning actor to cut the ribbon at the official opening. Bishop Castle Lawn Tennis Club secured the services of Pete Postlethwaite to cut the ribbon adorning the net on the new court on Saturday, 19 July. The Club received just over £60K to develop the new court and provide a local activity programme called ‘Tennis Stronger mind and body’. Congratulations to all at the Club on a great opening and a very successful project.

30 June 2008 - £500k for new indoor netball facility in Stourport. Stourport Sports Club will be the home for a new ‘state of the arts’ indoor netball facility that will help develop the sport in the region.

8 May 2008 - National Lottery awards worth over £1.1m go to 8 projects across the region. Sport England has made the awards from the Community Investment Fund to projects that will make a real difference to the take up of sport in the West Midlands

18 December - Three West Midlands’ projects celebrate National Lottery sports awards. Sport England has awarded £365,803 from the Community Investment Fund over the last few weeks.

12 October - People living on the Sneyd Park Estate in Stoke can celebrate a National Lottery award this month. Sport England has awarded the local residents’ association £119,043 from the Community Investment Fund.

30 August - Lottery funding to 3 projects that will help get more people taking part in sport. Community Investment Fund awards totalling £101,210 are targeted at projects for disabled swimmers, .women and girls rugby and to help people take up rowing and canoeing.

Nechells Community Centre, Birmingham (IFI) - IFI gym facilities, opened on 31 May 2006.

Saheli Adventure Hub, Balsall Heath, Birmingham (AE) – extension to the Balsall Heath Adventure Hub, opened on 24 June 2006.

Shrewsbury Sports Village (AE & Football Foundation) – a new multi sport village, opened on 21 April 2006.

South Staffordshire Sailing Club (CIF) - the new clubhouse and disabled access facilities were opened on Sunday 13 May 2007.

Walmley Cricket Club (CCDP) - an extension to clubhouse, providing women's only changing rooms amongst other new facilities, was opened on Friday 11 May 2007.

Warwickshire College’s 'Active Learning Companies' (AE) – providing activity and personal development in the workplace, launched on 28 February 2006.
