At the end of May 2007, the Yorkshire Committee for the 2012 Games launched Yorkshire Gold, the strategy for seizing the opportunities of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

On July 6th 2007, 100 stakeholders in sport from across Yorkshire and Humber came together to learn about the
Sport and Physical Activity Opportunity for Yorkshire and the action plan that covers the period up to Beijing next year.  

Speakers at the event were Martin Havenhand, Chair of the Yorkshire Committee for the 2012 Games, and David Gent and Alistair Copeland from Sport England.
