Richard Huish College, Taunton


Richard Huish College is a centre of sports excellence, attracting students from a wide area. It generates excellent results, placing first among the FE colleges in the South West and fourth nationally in the 2007 college performance tables.

University of Bath Sports Training Village


The University of Bath’s Sports Training Village is a world-class sports facility used as a training base by Olympic and world-level athletes. It also provides facilities and services to local, regional and national sports groups, squads, University students and individual members of the public.

Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership - Community Coaches


The project, which works across Somerset, involves more than 50 Community Coaches working in a variety of settings each week, including over 120 schools, special schools and Pupil Referral Units. Coaches are involved in delivering high quality PE sessions and organising before and after school sports clubs. They are also involved with over 20 club settings, 33 Children’s Centres plus some targeted youth support.

South West Lakes Trust Wimbleball Lake


Sport England has played an integral part in the development of Wimbleball Lake, which over 9 months has benefited 4,128 people and improved access for beginners in the area to water sports.

Somerset County Council Healthy Workplace Manager


Sport England’s support and funding has been fundamental in employing a Healthy Workplace Manager for Somerset County Council. It has allowed for a proactive approach to be taken to promote healthy lifestyles within the organisation and allowed for procedures, processes and systems to be developed.

Crewkerne Active Lifestyle Centre

The Crewkerne Active Lifestyle Centre has had a large impact on the people in the local area.

It has enhanced the range of facilities for the whole community and helped provide a more holistic approach to health-related issues and more active lifestyles.

Active Exmoor


Exmoor is a rurally populated National Park with a potential for attracting active tourists to participate in a wide variety of sports.

Sport England’s contribution made this project possible. With finance and support Active Exmoor have been able to employ a project administrator enabling them to offer more water-sports, training courses and activity promotion.
