EQUALITY STANDARD FOR LONDON PARTNERSHIPS BY MARCH 2007

The Five London Partnerships are working to achieve the Foundation and Preliminary Equality Standard for Sport by March 2007.

The Standard was launched in November 2004, and provides a framework for assisting sports organisations to widen access and reduce inequalities in sport and physical activity to under represented individuals, groups and communities, especially women and girls, ethnic minority groups and disabled people.

The work on the Equality Standard is part of making the Partnerships ‘Fit for Purpose’ together with progressing Towards an Excellent Service (TAES) to at least a fair standard and the Preliminary Standard for Child Protection.

A draft Equalities Policy has been prepared and is being taken to the Boards of each Partnership for approval over the next 2 months.

Staff at the Partnerships are liaising regularly to ensure key issues are addressed and equality issues are embedded into the strategic plans being developed in each of the Partnerships and relevant evidence is identified and collected.
