Local government spends approximately £1 billion per year on sport and leisure - more than 50% of the total resources available to sport. Sport England has always worked closely with local authorities to help them develop sport in their area. And we will continue to do so as we deliver our strategy for 2008-2011.

We have produced a range of tools, publications, guidances notes and other resources to help local authorities increase the quantity and quality of opportunities to take part in sport and physical activity
