FUNDING GUIDE
An online guide to funding in the East Midlands for community based projects. The Sport section lists over 30 possible sources of funding for both capital and revenue sport or physical activity projects. |
|
Lists organisations identified as potential funders for groups and individuals, but not included in the above guide, or organisations who may be able to offer non-financial support. |
|
Training for your sports project ( 1MB) Courses in sponsorship, fundraising, project management, legal responsibilities and social enterprise are available from Regeneration East Midlands. |
Before taking your project idea or application any further, we would strongly recommend reading our briefing note Financial Investment in Sport. This document illustrates the impact of sport on society, and outlines the many benefits your idea could bring to the wider community. It also gives important information to strengthen a funding application.
The guide is by no means exhaustive. There are many other organisations who would not describe themselves as being interested in sports projects, because their stated priorities are for example economic regeneration, disaffected young people, health, disabled people or refugee communities. However, with a strong, well thought-out case, they could be persuaded to fund a sports project that can be shown to address their key priorities.
To stand any chance of successfully gaining funding from the organisations listed and the many more that are not, it is important to understand what the potential funder wants to achieve. What are their specific interests and concerns and how can your project offer them something they want?
