The research
The overall aim of the project is to establish the condition of the current stock of public sector sports facilities in England and to estimate the capital costs of bringing this stock up to a safe and usable standard both now and in the next 10 years. The project aims to repeat a study carried out in1995.

To achieve the overall aim the research aims to

A questionnaire will be sent out to all local authorities asking about the condition of the following facility types:

  1. Main pools
  2. Ancillary pools
  3. Main sports hall
  4. Ancillary halls
  5. Squash courts
  6. Changing rooms and toilets
  7. Other indoor areas such as fitness suites
