GOOD PRACTICE GUIDE
Practical tools and shortcuts to help you secure new provision including:
Supplementary Planning Guidance
Supplementary planning guidance template
A ready made document framework for a supplementary planning guidance (SPG)for sport and recreation provision. This is aimed at local authorities who are looking to produce an SPG for sport and recreation. The template was developed from Sport England's pilot project work with South Hams and Milton Keynes.
Please note that when using this template, the area's character must be considered when deciding on the most appropriate way to divide it up, for example, by ward, rural parish, community neighbourhood areas and so on.
Model legal and community use agreements
Community use agreement template
Model community use agreement to be used where new or existing sports facilities on education sites need to be secured for the use by the local community.
This is particularly useful when schools are being comprehensively redeveloped.
Community use agreement - short letter format
Letter form for a community use agreement for a smaller scheme when a full community use agreement may not be appropriate.
Section 106 model agreement
A framework document for a legal agreement to secure new sports facilities.
Schedule 1 and 2 of the model agreement have been completed as an example.

Unilateral undertaking template

Facility design and cost details
Design and technical guidelines
These guidelines give detailed technical advice and standards for the design and development of sports facilities.
In order to ensure that any new sports facility secured through the planning system is fit for purpose, Sport England strongly advises that, where relevant, these guidelines are followed.
Facility Costings
An up to date list of building costs for the main community sports facilities.
These tools will be refined and added to according to feedback from users.
