Sport England has produced a range of resources to help with your funding application, and maximise your chances of securing funding. However, please remember that competition is fierce.

Frequently Asked Questions
We have provided some answers to frequently asked questions to help with your application. We recommend you have a look at these as it provides more detailed information and may clarify some issues or answer some queries you may have. Go to FAQs.

Guidance, Templates and Technical Design notes
Sport England has designed a range of documentation, templates and technical design notes to help you develop and plan your project. In order to help shape and develop your project we recommend you look at these before making your enquiry.

It is not necessary to complete these at Stage 1 but they will give you an indication of what will be expected should your enquiry be encouraged.

Whether you are successful with your enquiry or not, you will find these resources extremely useful in the running and development of your project and organisation. Go to Further Help

Indices of Multiple Deprivation
Sport England prioritises hard to reach groups and wishes to make a difference to areas that suffer with problems associated with multiple deprivation. This is because people living in deprived areas often miss out on the benefits of sport and have lower levels of participation.

As you proceed through the enquiry form you will be asked where you project sits within the Indices of Multiple Deprivation.  In order to establish this please follow this link and input the postcode where your project will take place in the box provided in the NEIGHBOURHOOD SUMMARY section on the right hand side. This will take you to a website which gives details of your area and how the area sits within the indices. (http://neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk/dissemination/home.do)

There are currently 32,482 different areas in the index. Therefore if your projects sits between 1 and 3,248 it is in the lowest 10%, 1 – 6,496 it is in the lowest 20% and so on.

Milestones in the application process
Sport England has developed an eight step approach providing detailed information of what is required from a project, from conception right through to after it receives funding. This is designed to help you understand what is involved in delivering a successful application.

Of course we understand that each project is different and this approach provides a general process overview. Achieving each milestone does not guarantee funding due to the competition for investment and we are unable to support all the projects we would like to.

Click here to view a diagram of the process for more comprehensive information about the eight milestones and what is required to successfully complete each stage.

If you have any questions about Sport England funding, please contact our helpline on 08458 508 508 (Monday – Friday, 8am – 6pm)
