Edgbaston Priory and Rugby were the first two tennis clubs in the country to be awarded Clubmark accreditation at a presentation at the DFS Class tournament in Birmingham.

LTA Clubmark

The awards have helped take the number of sports clubs across the country to achieve Clubmark accreditation to 1000 in 20 different sports.

Chris Lumb, Edgbaston Priory Club Head Coach and Graeme Baker, Head Coach and Secretary of Rugby LTC received their award from Rebecca Miskin, LTA Director of tennis Operations and Sport England Head of Sports Development, Phil Veasey.

Commenting on the awards Rebecca Miskin said: “ For the LTA to achieve it’s goal of making Britain a great tennis nation is essential we have a vibrant network of community clubs that deliver a high standard of tennis.”

The LTA have worked in partnership with Sport England on the Clubmark programme which recognises the high standards reached by clubs.

Ann Dawes, chairman of the Edgbaston Priory Club said that the award was acknowledgement of the time and dedication put in by everyone at the club, especially the coaching staff.

Graeme Baker from Rugby LTC said: “we are very proud to have received this award which is a huge pat on the back for us and is the result of an incredible team effort.”
