Youth forums

One of the hot topics at the NGB Volunteer Managers Meeting on 10 June 2010, was Youth Forums.

Some of you had Youth Panels/Forums and others were interested in engaging young people in the development of your work. 

Phil Beard has kindly agreed to host a meeting to look at Youth Panels and we would like to gauge interest.

We suggest that the Youth Forum meeting involves a number of NGB’s presenting their work on gaining young peoples' opinions and engaging them in exploring your sports offer to young people. 

We would also like attendees to bring along a representative from their Youth Panel/Forum/Volunteer Programme, to gain young peoples' views on the NGBs that are presenting – for example are there specific aspects they like about the NGB’s programme. StreetGames has also agreed to attend and share their experiences of successfully engaging young people in youth forums, with particular success in engaging those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

If you are interested in attending please email alexandra.moore@sportengland.org stating whether you have a Youth Panel or similar and would be willing to present or that you are attending to find out more.  Date and location will be confirmed once we have established numbers.
