Sports Minister, Hugh Robertson MP, has announced that CCPR will review the red-tape and bureaucracy that hits sports clubs and holds back participation.

CCPR will look at a number of areas including:

  • Licensing regulations
  • Planning rules affecting sports facilities
Can it be easier and quicker to help improve sports facilities and playing fields?
  • Water rate charges
Can concessionary rates be introduced after changes to the way charges were calculated let to some clubs receiving a 1000% increase in rates?
  • The impact of safeguarding requirements on sports volunteering
Can the Criminial Records Bureau checks be portable and how can we ensure the vetting and barrring system isn't too onerous for clubs?

The review will be completed by the end of the year.
