Biography
I have been boxing from the age of 15 and won my
first national title in my sixth contest. I went on to win the
senior ABA title three times for three different clubs
picking up a European silver medal, Commonwealth gold medal and
Olympic representation along the way.
Despite being scared of flying, boxing has taken
me all over the world, experiencing new cultures and making many
new friends. I am currently in the professional boxing ranks and
after over a year of inactivity I am back on the ladder battling to
achieve great, untapped potential.
Who was your biggest influence?
My mum and dad for all the love and support and also close
friends and family for tolerating my strange behaviour whilst
dieting. A good mate of mine, the infamous Audley Harrison for his
defiance against the majority, going against the grain and standing
up for what he believes in.
What is your proudest moment?
Against all odds, there have been many ‘best moments’ (ie
Commonwealth Games etc). But winning my first national title was
the most emotional. When winning the European silver medal, every
bout I had was the hardest and most draining I had ever had. It
took literally all the strength out of me mentally and
physically.
What is your tip for young people wanting to participate in
sport?
C.A.N.I. - Constant and Never-ending Improvement - the key to
success.
What is your favourite food?
Rice and chicken
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
I am a great believer in luck and the harder I train the more I
have.
Also treat others as you would like to be treated (except when
boxing!)
