Club Links
Sport England is working with 34 national governing
bodies to increase the number of 5-19 year olds taking part in club
sport or taking on leadership and volunteering roles within
sport.
We are investing £4.1m per year across the 34 sports to
deliver an extra half million junior club participants or
volunteers by 2012-2013.
By April 2011, across the 34 sports there were over 1.8m junior
participants, including over 440,000 new junior club participants.
Likewise, there were over 77,000 young volunteers of which 49,800
were new to sports volunteering. This represents a combined
increase of over 496,000 young people and puts the objective of
delivering a further half a million junior club or volunteer
participants within reach.
