2008 UK Coaching Awards There is still time to recognise and reward the dedication and hard work of sports coaches at an evening ceremony at the prestigious Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane London on Wednesday December 17 2008. Following the launch of the UK Coaching Framework, the categories for the UK coaching Awards have been revised and updated. Awards for Coaches include The UK Male Coach of the Year, The UK Female Coach of the Year, Children's Coach of the Year, Participation Coach of the Year, Performance-Development Coach of the Year, High-Performance Coach of the Year, Young Coach of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, The Coaching Chain: The Appreciation of Coaching Award. Awards in Support of Coaches will honour Coach Educator of the Year, Governing Body of the Year, Coaching Intervention of the Year, Coaching Environment of the Year, Agency in Support of Coaching. Team Bath and Ged Roddy win two awards Team Bath netballers and University of Bath Director of Sport Ged Roddy won two of the top awards at the BBC West Sports Awards ceremony. The netballers won the coveted Team of the Year award while Ged Roddy (pictured) won the award for Outstanding Contribution to West Country Sport. More on Team Bath success.

Sport England Celebrate Coaching in the West Andy Hurry from the Somerset Cricket Team was last night honoured as Coach of the Year at the 2007 BBC West Sports Awards in Bristol, for his outstanding contribution and commitment to sport in the region. Somerset Celebrates UK's Community Coach of the Year Sarah Binding of the Bath Rhythmic Club won Community Coach of the Year at the sportscoachUK awards ceremony recognising the achievements, hard work and dedication of coaches worldwide, from grassroots to elite level. Jim Clarke, Regional Director of Sport England commented: “It’s fantastic to see Sarah Binding gaining national recognition...She is certainly a role model – her achievements are an example of the great work being undertaken across the region to encourage people of all levels to participate in sport." Sport England Celebrates South West Sporting Commitment Jon Hill and Chris Brown from the Cornish All Blacks were jointly honoured as Coach of the Year at the annual BBC South West Sports Awards, for their outstanding contribution and commitment to sport in the region. Sponsored by Sport England, the Coach of the Year award recognises the achievements and dedication of quality coaches, paying tribute to the pivotal role they play in the sporting community. Sport England also sponsored the Team of The Year award, presented to Truro City for their outstanding achievement in winning the FA Vase throughout the 2007 football season.
