Rugby spacer National Sports Foundation Funding Opportunities in 2008/09
The NSF, which is funded and administered by Sport England, is responsible for levering new and additional private investment into community sport in England, and will continue to do this by matching new and additional private investment of £50,001 and above, on a pound for pound basis. There is £7.67 million available in the NSF Open Pot in 2008/09. Eligible organisations with suitable projects and private investment commitment are encouraged to submit applications for funding at their earliest convenience. Applications will be assessed on a first come first serve basis. This will ensure that the benefits of the funding are received at the earliest opportunity. It is anticipated that the level of applications will exceed the funds that are available; therefore not all eligible projects are likely to receive funding. View key points via left menu and visit www.nationalsportsfoundation.org for more information.

Lottery Consultation
We are now consulting on potential changes to the way we distribute National Lottery funding. The consultation is aimed at anyone interested in National Lottery funding for sport, including members of the public, Lottery grant beneficiaries and professionals and organisations working within sport.  This is your opportunity to influence the way in which we distribute around £45 million a year of National Lottery funding which can make a real difference to the future of sport in England. In particular, we want to use the consultation to understand your views on:

  1. How we use our National Lottery funding in the best way to create a world-leading community sport system
  2. How we can improve our application and award processes
  3. If there are particular features of the current Community Investment Fund that you value

The consultation is open between Wednesday 25 June and Friday 12 September. Read more and share your views.

Sport, Physical Activity and Renewal Toolkit

Renewal.net have published a section in their sport, physical activity and renewal sport toolkit. The new section, Physical activity and educational attainment, identifies that physical education, sport and physical activity can contribute towards raising educational standards and aspirations among young people and adults within both a school and community setting. However this contribution is not being fully realised in many renewal areas.  This toolkit aims to raise the awareness of this and provide a starting point for anyone wishing to ensure that sport fully contributes to raising educational attainment in a renewal area.
