South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), as the Regional Development Agency for the South East, is responsible for the sustainable economic development and regeneration of the South East of England - the driving force of the UK's economy.

South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA):
* Works to influence Central Government and European Commission policy in favour of the South East
* Proposes strategic planning and transport policies to Government, and reviews Regional Planning Guidance
* SEEDA is accountable to the Assembly for delivery of the Regional Economic Strategy
* A major new responsibility is preparation of the new South East Plan, setting a 20-year vision for the region.

Culture South East established in 2000 as one of 8 Regional Cultural Consortia under the auspices of DCMS, is charged to:
* Champion the whole spectrum of cultural and creative interests including tourism and sport
* Forge links across this spectrum
