Local results

Results from the Active People Survey 2 available at local authority, county council and county sport partnership level.

Results highlight any statistically significant changes from 2005/6 (Active People Survey 1) and 2007/8 (Active People Survey 2).

They are available in Excel spreadsheet format. Please ensure explanatory notes are read before viewing the data.

Results include the following:

  • Volunteering: the percentage of the adult population who have volunteered in sport for at least one hour a week.
  • Club membership: the percentage of the adult population who are members of a sports club or club where they do sport.
  • Tuition: the percentage of the adult population who have received tuition from an instructor or coach in the last 12 months.
  • Organised competition: the percentage of the adult population who have taken part in organised competitive sport in the last 12 months.
  • Satisfaction with sports provision: the percentage of the adult population that, are very or fairly satisfied with sports provision in their local area.
  • Participation (3x30): the percentage of the adult population participating in at least 30 minutes of sport and active recreation (including recreational walking and cycling) of at least moderate intensity on at least 3 days a week.

It also provides a measure for the National Indicator 8 (NI8) for local government.

This is the percentage of the adult population in a local area who participated in sport and active recreation, at moderate intensity, for at least 30 minutes on at least 12 days out of the last 4 weeks (equivalent to 30 minutes on 3 or more days a week).
