Bridlington Mixed Volleyball Tournament
5-6 July 2008 South Shore Beach, Bridlington

Over 500 volleyball players from all over the country will be descending on Bridlington this weekend for the 26th annual mixed 4- aside beach volleyball tournament. The event is organised every year by Dave Speers, from Leeds, a former England volleyball player, from Leeds. Profits from the event are fed back into developing junior volleyball in Yorkshire.

You can't miss the tournament itself, as there will be 16 volleyball courts on the South Shore beach. The players will be staying at the South Cliff Caravan Park and at various B & Bs throughout Bridlington. The event is sponsored by Makis Leisure and most players congregate at the Makis Leisure Complex on the South Cliff site on Friday and Saturday evenings to meet old friends and share a drink or two.

The event has a great friendly, family atmosphere, due largely to the tournament format. Teams consist of 2 men and 2 women on court, with all teams playing on both Saturday and Sunday, whatever the weather or the state of the tide! The event has been blessed with great weather in recent years. Even a short hail storm last year didn't dampen anyone's enthusiasm. There are also separate 2-aside men's and women's competitions on Saturday afternoon, to let you test their skills in the Olympic Beach Volleyball discipline.

Details of this year's tournament, teams taking part and previous winners are available on the Brid Beach Tournament web site www.bridbeach.co.uk
