Developing people in sport

Here are just a few pathways for volunteers and for those interested in pursuing a career in sport:
You can view some cass studies on volunteers in sport on our dedicated web page

Step into Sport
Step in Sport is an exciting new initiative, which encourages more young people to become involved in sport in their local communities.
Funded by the Department for Culture Media and Sport and the Home Office Active Communities Unit, it brings together the British Sports Trust, the Youth Sport Trust and Sport England to provide a structured path to attract people into rewarding sports volunteering and to deploy their experience and talents to enrich local community and school sport.

At least 6,000 older volunteers train with and act as mentors to these young people. The Step into Sport programme also helps national governing bodies devise and implement action plans to provide longer term volunteering opportunities.Through the scheme the British Sports Trust provides free training to organisations and individuals who wish to run Sports Leader Awards.
