Funding applications are assessed by the North East Regional Sports Board. Each proposed project is examined to see how it will help deliver the North East Regional Plan for Sport. Tough decisions have to be made and the more closely a project aligns with the plan, the greater its chance of receiving financial support.

Your application form is critical. We can only use the information provided on it to make a decision so don’t assume we already know about your organisation or project.

We encourage all potential applicants to make an appointment to speak to one of our staff before you submit your form. We can check it meets the grant programme criteria and offer guidance on how to complete your application.

It is a requirement that any facility receiving funding from Sport England adheres to Sport England's Design Guidance Notes. These cover a range of subjects and you can download them from the Sport England website
