Update July 2017

We're pleased to say we have now completed our stage one assessment process for the expressions of interest to become a local delivery pilot

04 July 2017

We've narrowed down the 113 expressions of interest we received to a shortlist of 19 places that have been invited to move into the second stage of the selection process. See the full list at the bottom of the page.

While all applications offered interesting and valuable opportunities, we need to focus on securing a good mix of places, which includes a range of geographies, a balance of urban/rural/coastal places, and population size, in order to maximise the potential learning for the benefit of all.

Energy and commitment

We're very grateful for the energy and commitment that organisations and their partners put into both our local delivery pilot workshops and the expression of interest.

The interest in the whole-system approach to address the inactivity challenge has been tremendous.

Many people told us at the workshops and in their expression of interest how they had started on a journey of whole-system change and wanted to continue with this whether they were successful in becoming a pilot or not.

The local delivery pilots are essentially a set of experiments for us all to learn from

We don't want to lose this incredible enthusiasm and momentum for working in a different way.

The pilots are essentially a set of experiments for us all to learn from. We're therefore keen that dialogue continues and are committed to developing a community of learning, which many of you supported.

We plan to hold some events in the autumn to share the initial learning and will share more information nearer the time.
