Hockey legend Val Robinson OBE joined players, coaches, volunteers and club officials at Blackburn Northern Hockey Club as it celebrated the official opening of its new astroturf pitch on March 11th. The £446,108 funding for the all new pitch has come from Sport England’s Community Club Development Fund. More
Lottery consultation In February 2006 the government consulted the public on the future share of National Lottery support for the arts and film, heritage and sport after 2009. The decision following the consultation is that the Lottery shares for these good causes will be retained for ten years from 2009-2019. More
83 community clubs benefit from investment Sport England has announced that it has reached the £40 million mark in funding around 550 community sports club projects throughout England. This includes over £7 million for 83 projects in the North West. More
Positive Futures In Sefton Childen permanently excluded from mainstream education, in local authority care or who have been served with anti-social behaviour orders are just some of the young people benefitting from the Positive Future programme in Sefton. Funded by the Home Office, the Football Foundation and Sport England, Positve Futures is a national sports-based inclusion progamme aimed at giving 10-19-year olds the chance to get involved in training, employment and education.

Bolton Lads' and Girls' Club The philosophy of the Sport England Lottery Funded Bolton Lads’ & Girls Club is that by getting youngsters off the streets and involving them in a range of activities, particularly sport, they can begin to fulfil their potential, develop self esteem and start on the road to becoming responsible citizens.
