REGIONAL FACILITIES STRATEGY CONSULTATION - HAVE YOUR SAY

Welcome to the planning and facilities section of our website.

The Planners in Sport England North East work to promote the interests of sport and recreation in the planning system. Their main roles are;
- the protection of playing fields from development (this is called the statutory role)
- ensuring new sports facilities are well designed and fit for purpose
- protecting existing sports facilities
- ensuring that new housing development meets the sport and  recreational needs of its residents
- assisting local authorities strategically plan for sport
- ensuring that new sports facilities in the education sector are aligned to community needs

The regional office has two Planning Managers; Dave McGuire covers Tees Valley and County Durham and can be contacted on 020 7273 1692, while Richard Fordham covers Tyne & Wear and Northumberland and can be reached on 020 7273 1987.
