Clissold Leisure Centre in Stoke Newington reopened its doors to the public at 9am, Saturday 15 December.
The centre was closed for four years for repair works to rectify serious design faults that had been diagnosed with the building.
Following extensive public consultation, the reopened leisure centre will include many enhancements such as improved access for the disabled, reception area, crèche and a brand new toddler pool.
The main facilities are: two 25 metre swimming pools, health suite, six court sports hall, gym, squash courts, group exercise studio and café.

Kim Wright, Corporate Director, Community Services says: “Getting Clissold reopened for Hackney residents has been a top priority for the Council and I welcome the completion of this project.
“I encourage residents to come along to see this excellent facility and find out what’s available as I’m sure there will be something to suit everybody.”
Sean Holt, Director of Sport England London said “"We are absolutely delighted that the Clissold Leisure Centre has opened. Sport England has invested over £10million of Lottery funding in Clissold Leisure Centre. Sport England is committed to investing in London's sporting opportunities and projects such as Clissold provide a safe facility for people of all levels to participate in sport. I hope the people of Hackney enjoy, and take full advantage of this excellent provision."
To mark the reopening, there will be an offer of ‘no joining fee’ on pre-paid memberships from the centre’s new managers Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL). GLL is a not-for-profit organisation which runs all of Hackney’s leisure facilities and other centres across London.
The redevelopment of Clissold Leisure Centre is the latest of several major leisure investment projects; including the refurbishment of King Hall Leisure Centre,
Britannia Leisure Centre and the restoration and reopening of London Fields Lido.
There are now six good quality facilities for residents to access across the borough at: Kings Hall, Britannia and Clissold leisure centres, Stoke Newington West Reservoir Watersports Centre, London Fields Lido and Queensbridge Sports and Community Centre.
These centres are all fit for purpose, modern facilities that aim to cater for all members of Hackney’s diverse community.
