The aims of the Conference were to:

  1. Demonstrate commitment to the Delivery System for Sport
  2. Re-affirm roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders
  3. Launch the Delivery System Performance Framework
  4. Continue the development of positive working relationships of key stakeholders
  5. Develop a common sense of purpose within the Delivery System for Sport
  6. Help delegates to meet their own working aims and objectives

Over the two days the event was attended by more than 270 delegates and included partners from County Sports Partnerships (CSPs), National Governing Bodies (NGBs), sports coach UK (scUK), Youth Sport Trust and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).  Much of the success of the conference was attributed to the wide range of knowledge and experience contributed from this range of partners.

The first day of the conference one was hosted by Andy Worthington (Regional Sports Board Chair) with Jennie Price (CEO, Sport England) delivering the opening key note speech, followed by Pat Duffy (CEO, scUK).

Day two was hosted by Ged Roddy (Regional Sports Board Chair, Sport England Vice Chair) with the key note speech delivered by Sue Campbell (Chair, UKSport)

The two day program offered a range of themed sessions and technical updates such as Building Schools for the Future, Clubs, Communication, NGB Investment and the Performance Framework for the Delivery System for Sport.  Each session was aimed at providing delegates with up-to-date information, giving an opportunity to explore collaborative working and developing skills and knowledge to take back to the work place.

The Conference concluded with a reception at the Houses of Parliament where the Rt Hon Richard Caborn received warm applause for his services to sport as he announced his resignation from the role of Minister for Sport.   Richard thanked CSPs for their valued contribution to increasing participation in community sport and emphasised the key role CSPs will continue to play in the future.
