Open Space Supplementary Planning Guidance Adopted March 2002
The Fareham Borough Local Plan Review was adopted in 2000.
One of its strategic aims is to ensure adequate provision of recreational facilities for residents. According to the plan's Policy R5, new residential developments have to provide open space to meet the recreational needs of residents.
As part of the Open Space Supplementary Planning Guidance, the Council has developed the Fareham Ready Reckoner (MS Excel 57Kb)
This calculates the amount of open space required from all new housing development within the borough, including contributions in lieu of provision and maintenance costs.
The reckoner is designed to be used by both the developer and the council, giving a clear, up front figure for what the council will expect the developer to provide.
The example included here is intended to be indicative of method only and needs to be used in conjunction with the council's Open Space Supplementary Planning Guidance (PDF 334Kb)
Actual standards for open space/ financial contribution required are subject to periodic updates by Fareham Borough Council that may not be reflected in this example.
Fareham Borough Council should be contacted for the latest version of the reckoner with the most up-to-date costs.
