In the last review of CPA arrangements the Sport and Leisure sector of Local Government argued strongly for there to be a “Culture Block” to be built into the CPA inspection process. Up until almost the last minute it seemed that this wouldn’t happen, but it was finally agreed that culture, including sport, would be part of the inspection process.
The rationale behind wanting culture to be part of the process was simple; If your service score under CPA is helping the council as a whole to improve, or if you provide examples of good management practice that underpins the councils corporate score, this puts you in the front line and ensures that the way that you perform becomes a focus for the council’s attention. This can be positive, or can put you under pressure, depending on how well you understand it, and how you react to the inspection process. Visit the Value of sport page for further information.
