Lottery funding is the key at shipshape Salford
The Salford Quays Watersports Centre has seen a 50 per cent increase in the number of users since it received a £2.1m facelift.
The project received a £1.5m grant of Lottery funding from Sport England who were keen to see the existing facility developed in order to increase the number of people participating in watersports among the different local community groups.
As a result the new-look centre has made a considerable impact on the local community and is now running close to capacity with over 22,500 users.
The permanent watersports centre includes an indoor storage facilities, lecture and audio-visual room, workshop, changing facilities and sports development offices.
