Lottery millions help keeps Londoners healthy
Over £15m of Lottery funding helped turn the derelict public swimming baths in the London borough of Newham into a flagship leisure facility.
Sport England made the grant towards the East Ham Leisure Centre project, which cost a total of £25m, and now more than half a million visitors a year use it to keep active.
The redeveloped centre included a new 25 metre, six-lane swimming pool, a four court sports hall, climbing wall, fitness facility, health suite and therapy rooms, changing accommodation, crèche and a café.
There is a range of payment/membership options available and the centre is used by clubs, schools and community groups.
