East Grinstead Sports Club

It's one big party at East Grinstead

New facilities at the East Grinstead Sports Club have allowed the organisation to build on its success and encourage more people to get active in the community.

The club, which already operated beyond a multi-sports club and encouraged local businesses and clubs to use its range of meeting and party facilities, gets 60 per cent of its turnover from the conference and banqueting facilities.

Sport England invested £1m of lottery funds towards the total project costs of £1.7m which gave the club a new water-based all-weather pitch, fitness suite, a jogging track, new changing rooms and improved office accommodation.

The improved facilities are used by East Grinstead men’s and ladies hockey club, cricket and squash clubs and the Felbridge Badminton Club.

"The multi-sport hub concept has proven to be one of the most effective means to bring sport and physical activity directly into communities. This new approach focuses on the development of community hubs that combine multiple sports and activities and also have the potential to bring health, social welfare and educational services together under one roof. Sport England has committed to developing a network of multi-sport hubs across the country to boost the number of people actively engaged in sport."
