Suffolk Sport is a Partnership between the 7 Local Authorities in Suffolk and the Suffolk Education Authority, working with National Governing Bodies of Sport and their volunteers in Suffolk. The aim is to enhance oppo rtunities in sport and active recreation in Suffolk through a co-ordinated countywide approach.

Waveney District Council, as hosts to the Suffolk Sport Partnership, is seeking to make the following appointments. In the future, however, Suffolk Sport may become an organisation in its own right and take over the employer status.

Assistant Administrative Support Officer
Location: Lowestoft
Salary: £13,071 per annum
37 hours per week
Fixed term to 31st December 2005

Based at the Town Hall in Lowestoft you will provide administrative support for the Suffolk Sports Partnership.

Duties will include: the day-to-day running of the Partnership Coach Education Programme, maintaining contact with coaches and other volunteers and collecting / inputting information into databases in relation to Players and Coaches.

You will have 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent), to include English Language.

You must have experience of dealing with the public, excellent communication skills, well developed computer skills and have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Basketball Development Co-ordinator
Location: Place of work will be mutually agreed at the time of appointment.
Salary: £15,795 per annum
25 hours per week

Fixed term until 14th March 2007

You will support the development of structured pathways for young people to local clubs through schools coaching, competition and talent development. You will also work on club development, assisting local clubs in working towards the achievement of Clubmark accreditation. Coach, official and volunteer development are also central to this role.

You will have excellent motivation, communication and organisational skills to gain the support of a wide range of individuals and organisations.

Although the post is part time, there may be an opportunity to work additional hours through coaching and other development work as the programme grows.

Sports Development Officer
Salary: £17,409-£23.313 per annum
37 hours per week
Fixed term for 2 years from appointment.

You will assist the Interim Sports Development Manager with the implementation of key areas of the Partnership Services Programme, the PE, School Sport and Club Links Strategy and Coaching Task Force Projects.

You will have 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent), have at least 2 years experience and a proven track record of achievement with a sport/physical education related field.

Excellent communication skills, the ability to work on your own initiative and/or as part of a team and to be able to lead and motivate others are all essential requirements for this post. To be educated to degree standard in a related field would be of an advantage.
