“Is London fit for 2012?”
BBC London 94.9 is launching a spring and summer series of outside broadcasts and events to ask the Question “Is London Fit for 2012?”
The BBC will be visiting key Olympic boroughs, staging debates and airing Londoners’ views on whether the capital looks and feels like a city ready for the Games. This is great news for Sport England partners and Everyday Sport Partners as it gives you an opportunity to tell us what you have planned for the summer and have the event not to mention key members of the public and your organisation interviewed on the BBC!
One year on since London won the bid, the BBC want to find out if we have adequate leisure facilities and whether they can fund, train and inspire the sports stars of the future. And it’s not just about sport - it’s about lifestyle, leisure, and whether London is a healthy city.
The BBC will be working with sports and leisure groups, newspapers and other parts of the BBC to generate stories and provide information about what’s going on in every borough we visit.
They'll also be teaming up with some of the biggest sports events of the year from the London Marathon to Wimbledon and the World Cup.
BBC London 94.9’s big tour starts in Greenwich at the end of April in the run up to the London Marathon, for which BBC London is the official media partner.
The BBC travel to Hackney for the Fusion East event in Victoria Park and Newham to celebrate a year since London was announced as the Olympic host city. We’ll be in SW19 for Wimbledon and in Brent when the new national stadium at Wembley finally opens. They’ll also be in Lambeth for the Country Fair, in Ealing for the Mela and in Tower Hamlets for the Brick Lane festival.
A diary of dates and locations can be downloaded here.
