Multi-sport or single sport?

The aim of this themed round is to increase regular participation in sport (three sessions of 30 minutes of at least moderate intensity per week). This means that we will welcome projects that take a multi-sport approach, if they meet the needs of students.

Likewise, if the application is for a single sport, a clear justification must be given as to how it fits with an overall strategic approach for community sport within an HE setting and how it will contribute to the outcome of regular sporting participation.

Applications involving any of the 46 Sport England funded national governing bodies must demonstrate how the proposed activities and outcomes are additional to those agreed under the 2009 –13 whole sport plans.

A further consideration is the level of investment that Sport England has made previously into higher education. Where an organisation has already benefitted from Sport England funding to improve higher education sport (both capital and revenue), an applicant must demonstrate the need for additional funds.
