Applications for the Free Swimming programme 2010/11 are now closed with no further funding available at this time.

The Free Swimming Capital Modernisation Programme ( FSCMP ) encourages creative approaches to enhancing swimming facilities and increasing participation in physical activity and sport among the over sixties  and under sixteens.

It addresses some of the needs of the swimming stock in England as part of the Government’s Free Swimming Programme. This is an innovative collaboration between the Department for Culture, Media and Sport ( DCMS ), the Department for Children, Schools and Families ( DCSF ), Sport England, the Amateur Swimming Association ( ASA ) and the Local Government Association ( LGA ).

The prospectus explains how local authorities can apply for funding to improve publicly accessesible swimming pools in local authority or maintained school ownership.
