Determining Planning Applications
Sport England has a specific remit from Government to be
consulted on any proposals for development which affect playing
pitches.
Sport England's planning policy and implementation objectives
are set out in the following Guidance Note. This replaces the old
Part B section of the Land Use Planning Policy Statement (LUPPS),
published in 1999 (Part A is replaces by Spatial Planning for Sport
and Recreation) and forms a reference point for the consideration
of how sport and active recreation issues should be treated in the
determination of planning applications.
The checklists, organised by theme, assist with the preparation
of Regional Spatial Strategies (RSS) and Local Development
Frameworks (LDF) in a way which takes into account of the interests
of sport and active recreation, both through specific policies and
in the wider aims of the LDF.
