Local development frameworks
Core Strategies
It is important that planning authorities
include full and detailed policies in respect of developer
contributions specifying:
- The situations in which planning contributions will be
sought;
- How far sports development will be covered in area action
plans;
- Whether CIL will be adopted , and the uses expected to
benefit from Levy revenues should be covered; and
- The scope of any supplementary planning document relating to
site specific sports provisions.

Area action plans
Area action plans focus on specific locations
or areas subject to conservation or significant change.
Examples from Chelmsford (Essex) and South Cambridgeshire, show
current practice where AAPs have enabled the provision and
enhancement of sport and recreation facilities accompanying major
development.
