PPS 12 Guidance on Local Planning for Infrastructure

Planning Policy Statement 12 Local Spatial Planning states that the core strategy in an LDF should be accompanied by a systematic process of infrastructure planning which should identify, as far as possible:

• infrastructure needs and costs;
• the phasing of development;
• funding sources; and
• responsibility for delivery.

The specific infrastructure requirements of any strategic sites should also be identified.

Infrastructure planning should be:

• backed by a robust evidence base;
• supported by discussion with key providers; and
• should make proper provision for uncertainty.
