Nottingham Forest's City Ground will play host to the FA Women's FA Cup final
Nottingham will be celebrating the popularity of the women's game with a festival of football.
Nottingham Forest's City Ground will play host to the 2007 Final of The FA Women's Cup sponsored by E.ON in front of what is likely to be the biggest crowd in the competition's 37 year history.
Over 10,000 tickets for the Final have already been sold, and the record crowd of 13,824 back in 2001 should fall.
Charlton Athletic and Arsenal Ladies will go head-to-head on May Bank Holiday Monday 7 May, and despite their collective dominance of the women's game in recent years, this will only be the second time in the history of the competition that the two sides have met in the Final. Arsenal won back in 2004 3-0, courtesy of a Julie Fleeting hat-trick.
As well as the match itself, the city of Nottingham will be celebrating the popularity of the female game - the fastest growing team sport in the country - with a festival of football, starting on the Saturday in Market Square.
Between 10.30am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, the square will play host to a free football challenge for young girls, with England players Sue Smith and Rachel Brown set to join in the fun.
The Trent FM Black Thunders and Roadshow will be keeping families entertained and there will also be giant inflatables for fans of all ages to test themselves on, as well as a 'have-a-go' arena for young girls who may be new to the game.
Nottingham Forest Football Club will also have a ticket office open in the square for football fans and families to purchase their ticket for the Final too.
On Sunday lunchtime, attention will also turn to Calverton Miners Welfare FC, where the Nottinghamshire Girls' and Ladies' League Cup Finals will be played. A series of family attractions will again be in place as six different cup finals are settled from the U8s, to Senior final.
Tickets for The FA Women's Cup Final sponsored by E.ON cost just £2 in advance and can be purchased now on 0871 226 1980 or via www.nottinghamforest.co.uk
