National Ice Centre Chair appointed
Minister for Sport Richard Caborn has announced the appointment of Nottinghamshire businessman and National Ice Centre Chair Mich Stevenson onto the Board of Sport England.
Mich, who is one of five new board members appointed, said:
‘I am really excited at the prospect of being on the Sport England Board and looking forward to playing my part in helping to increase participation in sport at all levels’.
Mich Stevenson is a property developer, developing domestic and commercial property. He was also the founder, and until recently the Chair, of the Lace Market Heritage Trust set up to facilitate the regeneration of the Lace Market area of Nottingham.
Mich is also the Chair of the Galleries of Justice Museum and director of Greater Nottingham Rapid Transit Ltd, a public/private sector project to develop the tram system in Nottingham, and the Chair of Nottingham Waterside Limited, a public/private sector regeneration partnership.
Up until 2001 Mich was also chair of Nottingham Development Enterprise bringing in private sector input to develop the East Midlands region.
Sport England Chairman Derek Mapp said:
‘All five appointments bring a wealth of business skills to Sport England. Each new Board member has different experiences of working to create partnerships across the private and public sector as well as the sports industry’.
